Use one inventory for every quote
Send each company the same furniture list, approximate box count, and photos of difficult items. Differences in what is being moved can make two estimates look more different than they really are.
Identify the pricing basis
Ask how the company calculated the estimate and what assumptions could change it. For an hourly job, clarify whether the rate covers the whole crew. For a shipment-based quote, confirm the shipment measure and any minimum.
Read the service line items
Check packing, materials, furniture work, storage, access arrangements, and delivery services. Ask for clarification when a service is described broadly. Keep the answer with the estimate.
Discuss timing and payments
Confirm pickup and delivery windows and when each payment is due. Ask who will handle transport and how you will receive updates. Choose a company whose written terms you understand.
Update the estimate before moving day
If your inventory, addresses, or access conditions change, tell the coordinator early. Request a revised estimate rather than relying on an old total. Use our budget planner to organize quoted charges and a personal contingency.
