Ask both buildings about move-in procedures
Contact property management well before moving day. Ask about permitted hours, elevator reservations, loading areas, and any documents they require. Share the instructions with your coordinator.
Measure the difficult spaces
Check doorways, stair turns, hallways, and elevators for large furniture. Photos and measurements help the mover understand the challenge. Mention pieces that have previously needed special handling.
Describe the walking distance
Explain where the truck can stop and how far belongings must travel to reach your door. Include gates, ramps, stairs, and any restriction that affects a larger delivery vehicle.
Keep a contact available
Have a phone number for someone who can open doors or resolve access questions. Arrange keys and entry codes in advance, and tell the crew how to reach you without sharing private codes publicly.
Confirm the plan again
Recheck your reservation with the building and the mover before the pickup window. A short access review is easier than discovering a closed loading area when the truck arrives.
Use the moving budget planner and company directory to organize your next steps.
